Five individuals have been taken into custody on charges of possessing substances presumed to be methamphetamine. The arrests took place last night in Narere, Nasinu, where police discovered six zip lock bags containing the white crystals, as stated by Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu.
In addition to these arrests, police teams have been actively conducting drug raids, with a notable operation resulting in the removal of 272 marijuana plants in the Tacilevu farming area of Savusavu. ACP Driu highlighted the positive community response, mentioning that residents are increasingly assisting police by providing valuable information during these operations.
The police are determined to continue their efforts in combating drug-related issues throughout the festive season, aiming to eradicate illegal substances from their communities. Although no arrests have been made regarding the uprooted marijuana plants yet, investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
This proactive stance by law enforcement, along with community support, illustrates a collective effort towards building a safer environment and tackling drug-related challenges. As police remain vigilant in their operations, the cooperation from the public may help lead to more successful interventions in the future.
