The Pacific Specialist Healthcare (PSH) Hospital in Nadi recently celebrated its first anniversary, reflecting on a year filled with notable accomplishments since its inauguration by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka on July 4, 2023. Management and staff gathered to commemorate this milestone, opting to hold the celebration during the festive season due to the hospital’s significant clinical commitments in July.

Operations Manager Ritesh Kumar expressed pride in the hospital’s achievements over the past year, highlighting innovative medical services, including the successful execution of complex procedures like open-heart surgeries. He noted, “It has been a wonderful one-year journey so far… We look forward to a successful new year.”

The hospital’s founder and CEO, Parvish Kumar, shared insights into the challenges faced during the inaugural year, emphasizing the promising future ahead. A significant highlight was the successful open-heart surgery undertaken in November on a 61-year-old patient from Lautoka, a pivotal milestone for the hospital’s cardiology department. This complex procedure, a triple graft coronary artery bypass surgery, showcased the precision and capabilities of PSH’s medical team.

Kumar elaborated on ongoing projects, including the upcoming launch of a hyperbaric chamber and a special initiative for Fiji’s sugarcane farmers, expected to be announced next week. Additionally, a new five-story building adjacent to the existing facility is anticipated to be completed within two months, housing a state-of-the-art MRI machine and a medical drug manufacturing plant scheduled to begin operations by August 2025.

The advancements at PSH not only speak to its commitment to enhancing healthcare quality in Fiji but also position the country as a budding health tourism destination. This initiative suggests a positive trajectory for affordable and high-quality medical care, benefiting both local residents and international patients seeking treatments without the need for overseas travel.

The hospital’s achievements and ongoing developments provide hope for the future of healthcare in Fiji, offering expansive opportunities for growth in the health tourism sector, which could serve as both a boon to the local economy and an enhancement to patient care.
