Fiji Airways has successfully transported 98 passengers, including a government relief team, returning Vanuatu nationals, residents, and aid workers, to Port Vila today following the earthquake that struck on December 17.
The flight, designated FJ2265, utilized a Boeing 737 Max8F and marked the first commercial landing at Port Vila since the airport’s reopening at 1:00 PM. Fiji Airways expressed pride in being the inaugural commercial service to resume operations in Port Vila after the disruption.
Additionally, the return flight, FJ2264, became the first commercial departure from the airport, carrying back Fiji nationals and residents who were affected by the temporary closure. Fiji Airways also resumed its regular flight schedule today, with flight FJ263/262 departing at 1:00 PM and returning at 4:00 PM.
This development reflects a significant step in the recovery efforts for Vanuatu following the recent earthquake, restoring vital air connectivity to the region.
