The Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalusima, has expressed his appreciation for the National Fire Authority (NFA) for their efforts in aiding the cleanup of towns impacted by recent flooding. Ba, Nadi, and Rakiraki faced significant flooding on Boxing Day, prompting a robust response from the NFA.

Mr. Nalusima praised the dedication of NFA’s firefighters across the nation, particularly highlighting the contributions in Ba, where 14 firefighters, including two who volunteered their time off from family responsibilities, joined 23 council workers and four police officers to assist with the cleanup efforts. The commitment shown by these individuals underscores the spirit of community service and collaboration in times of crisis.

Furthermore, the NFA personnel from Nadi extended their support by traveling to Rakiraki and Tavua to aid in the recovery process. This coordinated effort not only showcases the resilience of these communities but also emphasizes the importance of mutual assistance during natural disasters.

In times of adversity, the collaboration among various agencies and community members is crucial. As the affected towns rebuild and recover, the commendable actions of the National Fire Authority and local authorities serve as a beacon of hope and solidarity.

As these towns continue their recovery, there is optimism that their strong community spirit will lead to faster rebuilding and revitalization.
