The Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalusima, has praised the National Fire Authority (NFA) for their invaluable support during the cleanup of towns affected by flooding. Ba, Nadi, and Rakiraki faced significant flooding on Boxing Day, and the NFA stepped in to assist local councils with recovery efforts.
Mr. Nalusima expressed his gratitude to the dedicated firefighters across the country, particularly highlighting the efforts of 14 firefighters in Ba. Remarkably, two of these firefighters postponed family commitments to join their colleagues in the cleanup operation, alongside 23 council workers and 4 police officers who were active during the Minister’s visit.
Furthermore, NFA officers from Nadi participated in the recovery efforts by traveling to Rakiraki and Tavua to support the cleanup in those towns as well.
This commendable response underscores the community spirit and commitment of the National Fire Authority to not only respond to emergencies but also to assist in the recovery process, showcasing a united effort in the face of adversity. As communities continue to recover from natural disasters, this solidarity gives hope for resilience and improved preparedness in the future.
