Fire Truck Roll-Over: A Close Call for Fiji Firefighters

The National Fire Authority has reported an incident involving one of its trucks that overturned while responding to an emergency near Koro Village in Nadarivatu.

Chief Executive Officer Puamau Sowane stated that all personnel in the truck from the Tavua Fire Station sustained only minor injuries and attributed the accident to mechanical failure.

“We are obligated to respond to all emergency calls, irrespective of their location,” Mr. Sowane remarked. “Emergencies do not have boundaries, and neither do we in our dedication to safeguarding lives and property.”

He noted that the fire trucks are not ideal for navigating the rugged terrain of Nadarivatu, particularly due to the heavy loads and equipment they carry.

“This incident highlights the unpredictable nature of our work and how our firefighters go to great lengths to serve the people of Fiji,” he added.

Mr. Sowane assured the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted regarding the incident.
