The National Fire Authority has reported an accident involving one of its trucks that overturned while responding to an emergency near Koro Village, Nadarivatu.
CEO Puamau Sowane stated that all personnel aboard the truck from the Tavua Fire Station sustained only minor injuries, attributing the incident to mechanical failure.
“We are obligated to respond to all emergency calls. Our commitment is to assist in emergencies no matter the location,” Mr. Sowane expressed. “Emergencies know no boundaries, and neither do we in our dedication to safeguarding lives and property.”
He also noted the challenges posed by the rugged terrain in Nadarivatu, explaining that the weight of heavy equipment on board can make their trucks unsuitable for such environments.
“This occurrence highlights the unpredictable nature of our work and the extreme efforts our firefighters make to support the community in Fiji,” he added.
Mr. Sowane assured the public that a thorough investigation into the incident will take place.
