The Andrews Primary School in Nadi experienced significant damage due to a fire that broke out early this morning. The blaze destroyed the school’s head office, library, and four classrooms, leading to the loss of numerous assets and vital documents, according to the school’s manager, Rajeet Singh.
Singh reported that the extent of the damage is still being assessed, but he confirmed that everything was severely impacted by the fire. Thankfully, no injuries occurred as the premises were unoccupied at the time of the incident. The fire was first noticed by a teacher residing in the school quarters, who quickly alerted the authorities.
In recognition of their swift action, Singh expressed gratitude toward the National Fire Authority and the police for their prompt response to the emergency situation. Investigations into the cause of the fire and a full evaluation of the damages are currently ongoing, with the school collaborating with the appropriate authorities.
While the loss is substantial, there is a spirit of resilience among the school’s staff as they begin the recovery process. Community support and concerted efforts from local authorities may provide a hopeful pathway toward rebuilding and restoring the school’s facilities for the benefit of the students in the future.
