Final Farewell: Fijiana XV Aims for Glory Against Spain

The Vodafone Fijian XV is set to draw inspiration from head coach Mosese Rauluni as they aim to achieve an unlikely victory against Spain in their final WXV 3 match in Dubai tomorrow. Rauluni announced his resignation on Tuesday following the Fijiana XV’s disappointing 45-17 defeat to Samoa.

Under Rauluni’s guidance, the Fijian Drua reached the Super W Grand-final for the third consecutive year and led the Fijiana XV to an Oceania Championship title, securing qualifying spots for next year’s Rugby World Cup. He also achieved a milestone by coaching the Fijiana to their inaugural victory over Japan. Rauluni’s era has been marked by centralising the programme in Nadi, a shift that has offered new opportunities for players and staff, while fostering the growth of talents such as Atelaite Buna, Salanieta Kinita, and Repeka Tove.

As confirmed by the Fiji Rugby Union, this match against Spain marks the conclusion of Rauluni’s tenure before he relocates to Brisbane, Australia, to be with his family. FRU CEO Rovereto Nayacalevu stated that efforts to find a new head coach for both the Fijiana XV and Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua teams will commence shortly. He wished Rauluni well in his future endeavors and hopes he enjoys time with his family in Australia.

The Fiji versus Spain match is scheduled to kick off at 4:30 AM and will be broadcast live on Sky Pacific.
