The Fiji Muslim League (FML) has made arrangements to hold the final rites for the late boxer Ubayd Haider, scheduled for tomorrow at the Raralevu cemetery in Nausori. The service, referred to as ‘Janaza’, will take place at 8:30 PM.
Ubayd Haider, known previously as Nathan Singh, tragically passed away after suffering a knockout loss to Runqi Zhou during the IBO Asia Pacific Super Featherweight title fight on October 26. Following the match, the 25-year-old boxer collapsed and was subsequently admitted to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where he remained until his untimely death yesterday.
This somber event highlights the risks inherent in professional boxing, as well as the importance of honoring the lives of athletes who dedicate themselves to their sport. The boxing community and fans will gather to pay their respects to a promising fighter whose life was cut short too soon.
As families and friends process their grief, this gathering serves as a reminder of the unity and support within the sports community during difficult times.
