The Fiji Muslim League (FML) has announced that late boxer Ubayd Haider will receive his final rites tomorrow evening. The service will take place at the Raralevu cemetery in Nausori at 8:30 PM.

In a statement, FML confirmed, “The Janaza of Br Ubayd Hayder will be held on Tue 12th Nov at 8.30pm @ Raralevu Muslim cemetery, Nausori.” Haider, who was previously known as Nathan Singh, tragically lost to Runqi Zhou from Australia by TKO during their IBO Asia Pacific Super Featherweight title fight on October 26. Following the match, the 25-year-old collapsed and was taken to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where he remained until passing away yesterday.

This sad event has shocked the boxing community and fans alike. It highlights the serious risks athletes take in high-stakes competitions. While the loss is deeply felt, it also brings to light the spirit of remembering and honoring those who contributed to the sport. The boxing community is rallying together to show their support for Haider’s family during this difficult time.

In memory of Ubayd Haider, we can reflect on the dedication and bravery he exhibited inside the ring, inspiring others in the sport.
