The director of the R.C. Manubhai Nataleira Sevens tournament, Solo Finau, has announced that there are still available slots for teams wishing to register. With the final registration deadline looming tomorrow, Finau noted that 12 teams have already submitted their fees for the Tier One category, but they are aiming for a total of 16 teams.

If registration remains at 12 teams after the cutoff, that will be the final number for Tier One. For the Tier Two category, which accommodates regular sevens teams, 16 teams have already registered, although the registration will close once the remaining teams confirm their payment of $300.

In the women’s category (Tier Three), six teams have confirmed their participation, with hopes to reach a total of eight, while eight teams have signed up for Tier Four, which is designed for Under-19 participants. Finau explained that they are still seeking additional teams to meet the 16-team goal for each category. To ensure age verification for the Under-19 category, Voter Registration ID cards will be utilized.

The deadline for registration is tomorrow, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis for all categories. Finau expressed an ambitious goal to raise $30,000 from the tournament, which will aid in completing the construction of the Nataleira Methodist Church. The church suffered extensive damage from Cyclone Winston and was subsequently destroyed by Cyclone Harold.

In terms of ticket pricing, children under 12 years old will be charged $2, while adults will pay $5 on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, the ticket prices for children will remain at $2, with adult tickets priced at $7.

The impact of this event is significant not just for the families involved but also for the community, as the funds raised will help rebuild an important place of worship that serves many in the area. This effort highlights the power of sport to unite and support local communities, as they come together not only to compete but also to contribute to a worthy cause.
