The director of the R.C. Manubhai Nataleira Sevens tournament, Solo Finau, has announced that there are still opportunities for teams to register ahead of the tournament, which is set to take place next week. The registration deadline is approaching quickly, with the final date for signing up being tomorrow.

Currently, 12 teams have registered for Tier One, and Finau aims to reach a total of 16 teams in this category. If the number does not increase by the registration deadline, the tournament will proceed with 12 teams. In Tier Two, which is designated for regular sevens teams, 16 teams have already confirmed their participation, pending the completion of their registration fees.

For the women’s category, Tier Three has confirmed six teams so far, and officials are looking to finalize the roster at eight teams. Similarly, Tier Four, which is for Under-19 players, has eight teams confirmed, with hopes to attract more participants. Age verification will be conducted using voter registration ID cards.

The tournament not only promises thrilling competition but also aims to raise $30,000 to support the rebuilding of the Nataleira Methodist Church, which suffered significant damage during Cyclone Winston and was ultimately destroyed by Cyclone Harold.

Tickets for the event are affordably priced, with discounts for children under 12.

As this event approaches, the spirit of community support and sportsmanship shines through, promising a weekend filled with excitement and purpose. By participating in or attending the tournament, individuals contribute to restoring a vital community landmark, demonstrating how sports can foster resilience and bring communities together.

In summary, the Nataleira Sevens is an excellent opportunity for teams to compete while supporting a worthy cause, and everyone is encouraged to join in the festivities.
