South Sea Towage Limited has welcomed three graduates from the Nadave Technical School as intern employees today. Nathan Campbell, Seveci Vakaloloma, and Saimoni Raikuna are part of an initiative led by the Center for Appropriate Technology and Development (CATD), which falls under the Ministry of I-Taukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage, and Arts.
Aporosa Silatolu, Director for CATD Nadave, emphasized the significance of this occasion and the center’s role in facilitating meaningful employment for not only these three individuals but also for the youth of Fiji as a whole. “The center aims to provide a platform of meaningful employment for many youths in Fiji, and we are very pleased to have signed on three of our interns today. They are the first of many,” Silatolu stated.
Twenty-one-year-old Saimoni Raikuna, one of the new interns who graduated from Nadave Technical School a year ago, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity. “I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity as I never imagined this ever happening. This is only the start of my career,” Raikuna said.
He also encouraged other young people in Fiji to harness their skills and talents to support themselves. “For my brothers and sisters listening, don’t see your educational background as a barrier in achieving your dreams.”
The Nadave Technical School is one of the many initiatives by the Ministry of I-Taukei Affairs aimed at providing job opportunities for youth in Fiji and addressing the rising unemployment rates.
