Sergeant Zaira Begg, a former Miss Fiji beauty pageant winner from Ba with familial ties to Nukutubu village in Rewa province, is proudly serving as the youngest member of the latest contingent representing the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). Led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Aseri Nakibo, the recently deployed group consists of fourteen members, including six women, marking a significant achievement for the Fiji Police Force in promoting female representation in international missions.
At just 28 years old, Sgt. Begg, who works with the Community Policing Department at the Fiji Police Academy, expressed that her inclusion in this mission reflects a divine plan for her life. She revealed her aspirations to serve in war-torn regions started a decade ago while volunteering with the Fiji Red Cross Society. “Today, I embark on a remarkable journey with the Fiji Police Force as part of the United Nations Mission in Sudan. All glory and praise belong to God,” she stated.
