The Fiji Sports Council (FSC) Under-20 team is gearing up for an exciting tour to New Zealand next month, with a strong determination to win. Head coach Sireli Bobo announced that the team will commence training on January 3rd, ahead of their departure on January 29th. He expressed gratitude to the FSC for organizing the Under-20 sevens series, which took place over five legs across various locations, including Navua, Sigatoka, Savusavu, Rakiraki, and Suva’s HFC Bank stadium, concluding on November 30.

Bobo observed a remarkable display of raw talent throughout the series, emphasizing that the competition was not just a platform for established teams but also an opportunity for lesser-known clubs to showcase their skills. “Even big clubs were challenged for their money by unknown teams,” he noted, highlighting the depth of talent in the grassroots program.

The coach aims not only for victory during the tour but also to provide valuable exposure for the players. He mentioned that some team members will experience flying for the first time, making this tour particularly special. Bobo reiterated that the team’s formation is intended to serve as a springboard for players aspiring to wear their national colors in the future.

In summary, the FSC Under-20 team is poised for an inspiring journey, focusing on both development and success. This initiative is a testament to the commitment to nurturing young talent in Fiji, fostering a love for the game and building skills that will benefit the players and the sport in the long run. The positive environment created through this tour is likely to encourage many young athletes to pursue their dreams in rugby.
