The Digicel Fiji Junior Kulas are excited for their opening match in the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, taking place this Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Head Coach Marika Rodu expressed confidence in the team’s preparations as they enter the final week of training.
“The preparation is going well, and we’re focused. The girls are in great shape and excited for our first match against Tonga,” Rodu stated. He acknowledged the challenges that come with a first match, particularly against a strong defensive team like Tonga.
“The first match is always challenging, but we aim to start strong and quickly find our rhythm,” he noted. Rodu highlighted that Tonga’s defensive tactics could pose difficulties for Fiji in scoring, but he remains optimistic about their strategies.
“We’ve been developing tactics to penetrate their defense and secure those vital three points on Sunday,” he explained. The match between Fiji and Tonga is scheduled to begin at 3 pm on Sunday.
