The Digicel Fiji Junior Kulas are looking forward to their opening match in the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship, scheduled for this Sunday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Head Coach Marika Rodu has expressed confidence in the team’s preparations as they enter the final week before the tournament kicks off. “Preparation is going well, and we’re focused. The girls are in great shape and ready for our first match against Tonga,” said Rodu.

He acknowledged the challenges that come with a first match, especially against a team like Tonga, which is known for its strong defensive play. “The initial match is always demanding, but our aim is to begin strongly and quickly adapt to the game,” he stated.

Rodu mentioned that Tonga’s defensive tactics could pose difficulties for Fiji in scoring but remains optimistic about their game plan. “We’ve been developing strategies to penetrate their defense and secure those vital three points on Sunday,” he noted.

The match between Fiji and Tonga is set to kick off at 3 PM on Sunday.
