Fiji’s Young Stars Gear Up for Thrilling OFC Championship Clash

The Fiji Junior Kulas are preparing to compete in the OFC Under-16 Women’s Championship, slated to begin on Sunday at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium. Head coach Marika Rodu is confident about the team’s preparations as they reach the final week of training.

“The preparation is going well, and as we enter the last week, we are trying to stay focused. The girls are in good shape and are ready for the opening match against Tonga,” Rodu stated to Fiji FA Media.

Rodu anticipates a tough first match against Tonga, recognizing that opening games can be particularly challenging. “We don’t expect the match against Tonga to be easy since the first match is always difficult, but the goal is to settle down and get right into the game,” he commented.

He pointed out Tonga’s defensive strategy, mentioning their tendency to adopt a low block, which may pose challenges for Fiji in breaking through their defense. However, Rodu remains hopeful about the Junior Kulas’ prospects, asserting, “We will address that and aim to secure the three points on Sunday.”

The game is scheduled to kick off at 3 PM.
