The Digicel Fiji Baby Bula Boys are set to face the host team, Tahiti, in the second semifinal of the OFC U-16 Men’s Championship on Thursday. Under the guidance of coach Sunil Kumar, the Fiji team secured second place in Group A, achieving two victories and one defeat. Their wins came against the Cook Islands, with a score of 2-1, and Vanuatu, where they triumphed 3-2. However, they experienced a setback with a heavy 7-1 loss to the top contenders, New Zealand.
In the first semifinal, New Zealand will meet New Caledonia at 1 PM, while the match between Fiji and Tahiti is scheduled to begin at 4 PM, Fiji Time. The pressure is intense, as the winners of both semifinals, along with the victor of the third/fourth place match, will secure a spot in the FIFA U-17 World Cup taking place in Qatar next year.
