Setareki Turagacoke, at just 18 years old, made a remarkable debut for the Fiji Water Flying Fijians against Spain, contributing to their 33-19 victory during their Europe Tour. The young talent, hailing from Dakuinuku in Korovou, Tailevu, celebrated this important milestone by scoring a try in the exhilarating comeback match.

Turagacoke was called up to the Flying Fijians squad late last week to fill in for the injured Temo Mayanavanua. Initially on the reserves list, Turagacoke made an immediate impact after entering the field in the second half, showcasing his potential as a rising star in the sport.

Currently, he plays for Stade Français Club in France, a team he joined last year after finishing his Year 12 education at Lelean Memorial School in Nausori. His journey began at the Eastern Saints Rugby Academy, where he started playing rugby at the age of 14, and he has also been part of the FRU High-Performance Unit Pathway.

Looking ahead, Turagacoke is expected to receive more playing time when the Flying Fijians take on Ireland in their final match of the Europe Tour this weekend, giving fans and supporters a chance to witness the emergence of this promising young athlete on a larger stage.

This victory and Turagacoke’s debut are thrilling developments for Fijian rugby, signaling a bright future for young talent in the sport. The team’s success and the emergence of players like Turagacoke embody hope and potential for further achievements in international rugby.
