Viola Ravutubananitu, a bright year eight student from Tagitagi Sangam Primary School in Tavua, has distinguished herself as the highest scorer in the recent Fiji Eighth Year Examination. At just 13 years old, she achieved a remarkable score of 491 out of a possible 500 marks, attributing her success to unwavering family support and her strong faith.

Hailing from Totoya in Lau, with roots in Tavualevu, Tavua, Viola expressed her deep appreciation for her family’s encouragement throughout her academic journey. “First and foremost, I thank the Almighty,” she stated. “I am happy and proud that all my hard work didn’t go to waste. I started preparing from the beginning of the year, staying up late to study and waking up early to revise.”

In a heartfelt tribute, Viola dedicated her achievement to her late grandfather, Aisake Ravutubananitu, who was a significant source of support in her life. “When my grandpa passed away, I felt like I lost a part of me because he always supported me,” she reflected. However, she finds solace in her belief, acknowledging her faith for guiding her through tough times.

Viola also expressed her gratitude to her grandmother, Ro Vani Ravutubananitu, her class teacher Nazeel Ali, and the entire school staff for their steadfast support. Coming from a family with a corrections officer father and a homemaker mother, Viola aspires to further her education at Adi Cakobau School (ACS), known for nurturing strong and independent young women. “I am interested in attending ACS because it breeds strong and independent women,” she said.

Viola’s determination and hard work not only spotlight her personal achievements but also inspire pride within her school and family community. Her story serves as a reminder of the power of perseverance, faith, and support from loved ones in achieving one’s goals.
