Waisake Tewa, a standout 22-year-old sprinter from Team Fiji, has garnered a nomination for the prestigious Sportsman of the Year Award at the upcoming 2024 Fiji Sports Awards. This honor recognizes Tewa’s unwavering commitment and his impressive performances over the past year.

His achievements include a commendable 6th place finish in the 60m event at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Scotland. Tewa also triumphed at the Fiji National Championships, taking 1st place in the 200m. His streak of success continued at the Oceania Invitational, where he clinched 1st in the 100m finals. He further contributed to the team’s success at the Oceania Athletics Championships, securing a 1st place finish in the 4 x 400m relay and finishing as runner-up in the 4 x 100m event. Additionally, during the Olympic Games, he placed 7th in the 100m preliminaries, showcasing his competitive spirit on a global platform.

This nomination places Tewa in esteemed company, as he stands alongside remarkable athletes such as Peni Volavola Vuniwaqa, Aminiasi Sarabau, and Ratu Tevita Waranaivalu, all of whom have made significant contributions to their respective sports.
