Swimmer David Tolu Young has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new national record for Fiji in the men’s 50-meter butterfly event. The 19-year-old athlete clocked an impressive time of 23.11 seconds during his heat at the World Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary. This outstanding performance allowed him to surpass his previous record by 1.36 seconds.

As a result of his exceptional showing, Young has earned a spot at 33rd in the global swimming rankings, highlighting his growth and potential in the sport. He, along with his cousin Hansel McCaig and Marselima Moss, is proudly representing Fiji in this prestigious competition, which is set to conclude on Sunday.
