Fiji’s Young Lifter Shines at Commonwealth Championships!

Mereia Turaganivalu from Team Fiji has won a bronze medal in the Women’s 59kg Youth division at the 2024 Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships taking place at Vodafone Arena in Suva. The 14-year-old student from Gospel High School achieved a lift of 53kg in the snatch and 70kg in the clean and jerk, totaling 123kg. Turaganivalu credits her motivation to her mother and aunt, both of whom are former weightlifters, expressing pride in continuing the family tradition.
