Fiji’s Young Kulas Welcomes Rising Star Ahead of World Cup Clash

Talei Moodie, a skilled forward from California State University, has made a strong impression on the coaching staff of the Fiji Young Kulas as the team prepares for their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup debut against Brazil.

Moodie joined the squad in Medellin, Colombia, on Wednesday and swiftly acclimated to her new teammates. Her dedication and ability to adapt have not gone unnoticed by the coaches.

Assistant Coach Anette Nainima commented on Moodie’s potential, stating, “Talei has shown great promise in training. Her ability to read the game and her willingness to step into any role needed are exactly what we need as we prepare for tough competition like Brazil.”

Moodie shared her excitement about the experience, expressing, “I’m really happy to be here and to have the opportunity to train with such a hardworking and welcoming group. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team in any way I can, especially as we head into this important match against Brazil.”

She added, “Representing Fiji means I’m not just representing the country, but also my family—my grandparents, my aunts, my uncles, my mom. Growing up in the United States, my mom made sure I was aware of the Fijian culture so I knew where I came from, and I want to feel more connected to my people.”

Moodie’s presence is considered a significant asset for the team as they aim to make a notable impression on the world stage.

The Young Kulas will face Brazil in their opening match, set to kick off at 11 a.m.
