Fiji’s Young Kulas Show Grit in Historic U-20 World Cup Debut Despite Heavy Loss

Despite suffering a heavy 9-0 loss to Brazil in their opening match at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia on Sunday, the Digicel Fiji Young Kulas demonstrated remarkable determination and resilience.

Coach Angeline Chua emphasized the invaluable experience gained from competing against one of the world’s elite football nations, noting that many players had only watched Brazil on television before this encounter. She highlighted the historical significance of the event for Fiji and commended the players for their fearless attitude and dedication to making history.

“Even though they faced a daunting challenge, our players put forth their best effort, and Brazil’s well-organized and skillful team showcased the level of football that aspiring teams like ours strive to achieve,” Chua stated in her post-match comments.

Fiji is set to take on Canada in their next match, scheduled for 1 PM (Fiji Time) tomorrow. Canada drew 3-3 against France in its opening match.
