Fiji’s Young Kulas Set for World Cup Showdown: Can Moodie Shine?

California State University forward, Talei Moodie, has caught the attention of the Fiji Young Kulas coaching staff as they prepare for their opening match against Brazil in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Moodie joined the squad in Medellin, Colombia on Wednesday and has swiftly adapted to her new teammates. Coaches have praised her strong work ethic and versatility both on the field and off.

Assistant Coach Anette Nainima commented on Moodie’s promising performance in training, highlighting her tactical awareness and readiness to fill various roles as the team gear up for a challenging opponent like Brazil.

Sharing her enthusiasm, Moodie said, “I’m really happy to be here and to have the opportunity to train with such a hardworking and welcoming group. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team in any way I can, especially as we head into this important match against Brazil.”

Moodie emphasized the significance of representing Fiji, stating that she carries the pride of her family along with her. “Growing up in the United States, my mom made sure I was aware of the Fijian culture so I knew where I came from, and I want to feel more connected to my people,” she added.

Her inclusion is viewed as a vital enhancement to the team’s ambitions as they aim to leave their mark on the international stage. The Young Kulas are set to face Brazil at 11am in their first match.
