Fiji’s Young Football Stars Set for International Challenge

The Digicel Fiji Men’s National football team is gearing up for the FIFA International “A” Friendlies Tri-Nations Series 2024, with preparations already underway at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba.

Among the 26 players selected for the squad are Fiji U-19 captain Penisoni Tirau and defender Mohammad Aymaan, both of whom impressed at the OFC U-19 Men’s Championships earlier this year.

Team manager Kartik Reddy reported that 24 players are currently in training camp, with two additional members anticipated to arrive soon. Goalkeeper Jerome Narayan, who plays in Australia, is already present, while Samuela Kautoga from New Zealand is scheduled to join on Sunday, followed by team captain Roy Krishna on September 3.

The final 23-member squad is set to be revealed on August 30 before the team travels to Suva. Under the leadership of head coach Rob Sherman, the squad will compete against the Solomon Islands National team on September 2 at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva and will face the Hong Kong, China National team on September 8 at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

The 26-member squad includes: Isikeli Sevanaia, Jerome Narayan, Akuila Mateisuva, Samuela Kautoga, Patrick Joesph, Sterling Vasconcellos, Atonio Tuivuna, Mosese Nabose, Filipe Baravilala, Ivan Kumar, Muni Shivam Naidu, Sitiveni Cavuilagi, Thomas Dunn, Mohammed Raheem, Setareki Hughes, Aporosa Yasa, Nabil Begg, James Hoyt, Tevita Waranaivalu, Dave Radrigai, Sairusi Nalaubu, Etonia Dogalau, Roy Krishna, Mohammed Aymaan, Rahul Krishna, and Melvin Mani.
