Veresa Valemei from Nakasi High School and Gladness Simpson of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School have both made headlines with their impressive performances, winning gold in the 15000m Final during the recent athletics competition. In the Senior Girls division, Gladness secured gold, with Lilieta Buna of Thomas Baker Secondary School taking silver, and Makereta Vadrodro from Nasesevia Secondary School winning bronze.

On the boys’ side, Veresa Valemei led his category, clinching another gold for Nakasi High School. The silver medal was awarded to Peni Bulikiobo from Jai Narayan College, and Savenaca Namokoli from Natabua High School earned bronze.

The excitement continued in the Intermediate Boys 1,500 metres, where Jale Raikatalau of Ratu Kadavulevu School finished first, followed by Serevi Tova from Nakasi High School in second place and Noa Drevenavuka from Church College Fiji in third. In the Intermediate Girls event, Lusia Neneyawa of Thomas Baker Secondary School took home gold, while Marama Miliakere of Saint John Cawaci and Laisani Nakoro of Adi Cakabau School secured silver and bronze, respectively.

The Junior Boys 1,500 metres race saw Emosi Baledrokadroka from Natabua High School winning gold, with Vukivuki Mitieli from Nakasi High School earning silver and Maika Turner from Ratu Luke Memorial School claiming bronze. In the Junior Girls division, Mereseini Nailo of Dreketi High School won gold, followed closely by Makitalena Lakolako of Nasau Central and Manaini Lewasariri of Wainimala Secondary, who took silver and bronze.

This event not only underlines the talent among Fiji’s young athletes but will also serve as a catalyst for their progress as they prepare for the upcoming National Championship Coca-Cola Games scheduled for April 24-26 at the HFC Bank Stadium. The diverse achievements across events reflect the dedication and hard work from students, coaches, and schools, highlighting a promising future for athletics in Fiji.
