A total of 19,359 students are set to take the Fiji Year 8 Examination this week, marking the first external examination of the school term. The Ministry of Education has extended best wishes to all Year 8 students as they approach their exams.
Acting Minister for Education, Alitia Bainivalu, along with her Assistant Minister, Iliesa Vanawalu, encouraged students, expressing hope for their success. Ms. Bainivalu emphasized the importance of the examination as a tool to assess knowledge and skills, while also reflecting the students’ dedication and hard work. She reminded students to believe in their preparations, stating that the exam is just one step in their educational journey.
Bainivalu urged parents, guardians, and teachers to offer support that helps students maintain focus during this critical time. In his message, Mr. Vanawalu encouraged students to remain confident and resilient throughout the examination process and acknowledged the efforts of teachers and support staff in readying students for this important milestone.
The Year 8 exam began yesterday and will conclude on September 26. Last week, a dedication service for the external examination was held at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva, where Ms. Bainivalu delivered a keynote address to students, teachers, and officials. She highlighted the vital role of education in empowering individuals and shaping the future of the country, applauding students for their commitment and hard work.
Bainivalu concluded her speech with encouraging Bible verses, instilling confidence in students as they prepare for their exams. Upcoming examinations include the Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination from October 28 to November 8 and the Fiji Year 12 Certificate Examination from November 12 to November 22.
