The Education Ministry of Fiji has reported an 86 percent pass rate for this year’s Year 13 Certificate Examination, a slight decline from the 91 percent recorded in 2023. Despite this dip, Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro commended the schools that have demonstrated significant improvements in their performance.

Notably, Adi Cakobau School raised its pass rate from 97 percent to 98 percent, while Vunisea Secondary School saw a remarkable jump from 83 percent to 97 percent. Radrodro also expressed appreciation for ten secondary schools achieving a perfect 100 percent pass rate. These exceptional schools include Nadarivatu Secondary, Nilsen High, Tavua District Secondary, Rt. Finau Secondary, South Taveuni Secondary, Nasesevia Secondary, Valebasoga Secondary, Duavata Secondary, Rewa Secondary, and Jai Narayan College.

The Minister urged parents and guardians to maintain open dialogue with their children regarding their examination outcomes. He emphasized the importance of supporting students as they make crucial decisions about their futures, whether that involves further education, vocational training, or entering the workforce. Radrodro acknowledged the collective effort of teachers, students, and parents, which is reflected in the results, and he looks forward to ongoing collaboration to foster academic success.

In conclusion, while the pass rate has experienced a minor decline, the improvements seen in several institutions highlight the dedication and hard work within Fiji’s education system. This encourages a hopeful outlook for future examinations, showing that schools are continually striving for excellence.
