Damend Gounder, managing director of Yatule Resort and Spa and the Tour Managers Fiji group, highlighted the crucial support from key stakeholders that has fostered a favorable environment for local businesses to succeed. He made these remarks at the unveiling of the $5 million renovated Yatule Resort and Spa in Natadola, Sigatoka, on Monday.
Gounder emphasized that the success of collaborative efforts is evident in the enhanced facilities of Yatule Resort and Spa, which not only generates substantial returns but also offers exciting prospects for future growth and expansion. He noted the importance of such partnerships for the sustainability of smaller enterprises in Fiji.
“As Tour Managers, we take pride in our progress, but we remain focused on our goals. Our vision includes expanding our network and management capabilities,” he stated.
Viliame Vodonaivalu, the chief executive officer of the Fiji National Provident Fund, remarked that this initiative would benefit fund members and make a positive impact on the broader economy. He recalled that Yatule Beach Resort was established in 2005 to provide accommodation for consultants and contractors involved in the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa project. After the project’s completion, it transitioned into a bungalow-style resort with just 11 bure, along with a restaurant and bar.
The resort is situated in a prime location next to the famous Natadola Beach. Vodonaivalu mentioned that Tour Managers engaged with FNPF to secure a lease and management contract for the Yatule Resort, aiming to meet international travel demands while creating job opportunities.
