Fiji’s World Cup Hopes Rise with New Faces in Squad

Suva defender Kavaia Rawaqa has been named in Fiji’s squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Rawaqa, who hasn’t played for the national team in some time, has been brought back to take the place of Mosese Nabose at left-back, as Nabose has withdrawn from the squad due to personal commitments.

Additionally, Suva striker Merrill Nand and Ba forward Etonia Dogalau, who were not included in earlier selections, have also been called up to the team. Under the guidance of coach Rob Sherman, the Fiji team is set to begin their campaign against the Solomon Islands at 7 PM on Thursday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

The full Fiji squad includes: Isikeli Sevanaia, Akuila Mateisuva, Jerome Narayan, Ivan Kumar, Samuela Kautoga, Gabriel Matanisiga, Filipe Baravilala, Kavaia Rawaqa, Epeli Leiroti, Sterling Vasconcellos, Sitiveni Cavuilagi, Setareki Hughes, Leroy Jennings, Aporosa Yada, Tevita Waranaivalu, Merrill Nand, Dave Radrigai, Rahul Krishna, Sairusi Nalaubu, Roy Krishna, Thomas Dunn, Nabil Begg, and Etonia Dogalau.
