Fiji Bulikula prop Aliti Namoce has been left out of Josaia Rabele’s 17-member squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Fetu Samoa at Go Media stadium in Auckland, New Zealand this Saturday. This absence allows Yasawa Saints captain and former Pearls player Sereana Maragi to step into the number 10 jersey for her debut appearance with the Bulikula team.

Rabele confirmed that the 26-year-old Namoce will not join the team due to visa complications that have emerged, preventing her from traveling today. Manageress Asinate Rokovaki will remain in Fiji with Namoce to address these issues following the denial of her visa to return to Australia after participating in the Pacific Bowl Championship last weekend.

Reports indicate that Namoce did not attend a court hearing where she faced charges related to drug possession and supply offenses, as well as dealing with the proceeds of crime. The court was informed that earlier this year, she had received a variation to her bail conditions to travel home for the championship; however, her re-entry into Australia was denied.

Rabele stated that there would be no further commentary on Namoce’s situation at this time, emphasizing the team’s focus on their forthcoming match against Samoa. He highlighted the importance of this game, as both teams vie for a spot in the women’s Pacific Championship Cup tournament. Rabele encouraged all Fijian families and friends to rally behind the team as they prepare for the Pacific Championship final.

Despite the challenges faced with Namoce’s absence, the team remains determined to give their best performance against Samoa, demonstrating resilience and commitment amidst adversity.

This situation serves as an opportunity for Sereana Maragi to shine on the field and for the team to rally together in pursuit of their championship goals. The unity and courage displayed by the Bulikula team can inspire hope for their performance in the qualifier.
