The stage is set for an exhilarating Women’s Rugby World Cup in England in 2025, featuring a draw that includes top-seeded teams vying for a place in history.

The Vodafone Fijiana XV has been placed in Pool B, competing against Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The complete match schedule will be announced soon, with the tournament running from September 7 to October 28, 2025.

Alana Thomas, the Women’s High Performance Unit Manager at the Fiji Rugby Union, shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming event. “Being drawn in such a competitive pool highlights the progress of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are excited to embrace this challenge and represent our nation with pride,” Thomas said.

“The Vodafone Fijiana XV are thrilled that the pool draw is complete, and we now know our opponents in England next August. This World Cup is set to be a transformative moment for women’s rugby,” she added.

Thomas noted that the team recently returned from a northern tour where they faced Scotland in their opening match. Although the outcome was not as they had hoped, it provided valuable exposure to the Six Nations style of rugby. The tour also allowed the team to experience different weather conditions and adapt to long travel, factors that can influence performance.

After their participation in the WXV3 competition in Dubai and completing an exit review, the Vodafone Fijiana XV will take a break before reassembling in November to begin training.

“I want to extend my gratitude to the players and staff for this season, which has been the most significant in the history of Fijiana XV. We played 11 Test matches, qualified for the World Cup, clinched the Oceania Championship, and achieved our first victory over Japan,” Thomas expressed.

As the countdown to the 2025 Rugby World Cup begins, excitement is mounting among players and supporters. The Vodafone Fijiana XV is ready to showcase their talent on the world stage, bringing the essence of Fiji to England and beyond.
