The CEO of Fiji Football Association, Mohammad Yusuf, expressed optimism regarding the performance of the country’s first-ever women’s futsal team as they head to the Solomon Islands for the inaugural OFC Women’s Futsal Nations Cup. Yusuf highlighted that the team comprises national-level players who are thoroughly prepared for the competition. He remarked, “The coach has selected all national level players for the women’s futsal team; their experience should help them avoid any pressure.” Yusuf conveyed his aspirations for the team, stating, “We have high hopes for these girls to reach the final and hopefully win, which would secure a spot in the Futsal World Cup next year.” He also extended his gratitude to Peter Mazey, chair of the Fiji National Sports Commission, and Sports Minister Jese Saukuru for their support in facilitating the team’s journey.
