The Digicel Fiji Women’s Futsal team is set to face Tahiti today at 5 PM local time during the first-ever OFC Women’s Futsal Nations Cup 2024 in the Solomon Islands. Led by head coach Jerry Sam, the team comprises top players selected from across Fiji, and there is a strong belief that they will make a notable impact in the tournament.
Sam acknowledged that choosing the final squad was challenging due to the wealth of talent available in Fiji but remains confident in the abilities of the selected players to perform well.
The tournament will feature five teams, with Fiji scheduled to compete against Tonga tomorrow, New Zealand on Monday, and the host nation, Solomon Islands, on Thursday. The primary objective for the team is to win the tournament and secure a place in the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup in the Philippines next year.
