Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka, has reiterated the Coalition Government’s commitment to leveraging high-impact events to enhance the economy and support the nation’s tourism development objectives.

During the Spartan 2024 Business Launch in Sabeto, Gavoka emphasized the Spartan event as both a sporting challenge and a vital element in the government’s strategy to position Fiji as a leader in Wellness Tourism.

He referred to the success of last year’s Spartan event, which brought in an impressive FJ$6 million, benefiting local businesses by involving over 30 suppliers in crucial services like transport, accommodation, and catering.

Gavoka noted that this economic boost aligns with the Coalition Government’s goal of promoting local economic engagement while increasing Fiji’s attractiveness on the global stage. The event also provided substantial advantages for Land Owning Units and local communities, showcasing the inclusive approach to economic growth under the Coalition Government’s initiatives.
