A heavy rain warning is currently active for the Northern division, while a heavy rain alert is in place for the Central and Eastern divisions, as well as the Yasawa group. The Fiji Meteorological Service has communicated that a slow-moving trough of low pressure is impacting the region, leading to cloudy conditions and rain across Fiji.
However, relief is on the horizon, as the weather is anticipated to gradually improve by later today. In the Northern division, residents should expect occasional periods of rain, which may be heavy at times, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms. The rainfall is expected to diminish to showers as the day progresses.
In the Central Division, which includes areas such as Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Serua-Namosi, and Naitasiri, as well as the Eastern Division, Lomaiviti, and Lau groups, occasional heavy rain and thunderstorms are also forecasted.
Authorities caution that persistent heavy rain could result in flash flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas, underscoring the importance of staying vigilant.
While the current weather situation may be challenging, the expectation of improved conditions later in the day offers a hopeful outlook for residents as they look forward to clearer skies. This serves as a reminder of the resilience of the Fiji community in facing adverse weather challenges.
