The heavy rain alert for Viti Levu, the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands has been officially lifted by the Fiji Meteorological Service. The trough of low pressure that caused the alert is now moving eastwards, although some cloud and showers are still expected to affect the area until later today.

While the cancellation of the heavy rain alert brings relief, it is essential for residents to remain cautious. As noted by the meteorological agency, localized heavy rainfall may still lead to flash flooding in low-lying areas. This ongoing potential for flooding underscores the importance of preparedness and vigilance among the community in adapting to changing weather patterns.

This situation emphasizes the resilience of the residents, who are often able to navigate the challenges posed by unpredictable weather. With the heavy rain alert no longer in force, there is optimism for clearer conditions ahead, allowing communities to recover and safely resume their regular activities.
