The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is encouraging customers to conserve and store water as a precautionary measure. While reservoir levels at the Tamavua facility are currently stable, recent heavy rainfall has led to increased turbidity levels at key water sources, including Savura, Headworks 3, and Waimanu Pump Station. WAF has warned that continued rainfall may hinder operations at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant, potentially affecting water production and reservoir levels.
As part of their proactive management, WAF’s teams are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary. Residents are advised that if bad weather continues, they may experience low water pressure or intermittent supply disruptions.
This alert corresponds with previous notifications concerning similar turbidity issues during heavy rainfall, which have prompted community preparedness efforts. WAF emphasizes the importance of following guidelines for water storage and usage to minimize inconvenience during adverse conditions.
WAF’s diligent efforts in monitoring water quality reflect a commitment to public health and service reliability. With cooperation from the community and adherence to WAF’s recommendations, there is optimism for a quick resolution and return to normal supply levels as weather conditions improve.
