The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is actively addressing a water supply disruption affecting some customers receiving water from the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant this weekend.
On Friday, the plant encountered elevated turbidity levels in the Waimanu River due to rain in the catchment area. This increased turbidity led to a buildup of sludge in the plant, which impacted the gearbox of one of the two clarifiers.
As a result, the breakdown has delayed the restoration of normal water production and supply to the affected areas. WAF stated, “Our technical team is working around the clock to resolve this issue and restore supply as quickly as possible. We sincerely apologize for the disruption, particularly for those who have been without water since yesterday.”
WAF’s Chief Operating Officer, Seru Soderberg, expressed gratitude to the community for their understanding and patience during this challenging time.
