The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) has announced significant improvements in the quality of raw water at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant. Currently, the plant has reached 95 percent of its normal production requirement, indicating that operations are stabilizing. Continuous monitoring of turbidity levels suggests that, if the improvements persist, full restoration to 100 percent capacity is expected by later today into tomorrow morning.

WAF reports that water levels at the Tamavua Reservoir are set to rise progressively as weather and water quality conditions continue to improve. Restoration efforts are also in place to supply water to areas that have faced interruptions, driven by recent adverse weather conditions.

However, residents are advised to remain vigilant, as Tropical Depression 08F is likely to bring further rainfall, which could complicate matters by causing flooding and increasing turbidity levels again. To address immediate needs, 35 water carting trucks are actively providing temporary water relief to affected communities.

WAF is committed to recovering production levels and normalizing water supply as conditions permit. This situation highlights the resilience of the community and the proactive measures taken by WAF to safeguard public health and safety amid environmental challenges. With continued efforts, it is hoped that the restored water quality and the actions of local authorities will lead to a reliable water supply for all residents.

In summary, the community is encouraged to remain prepared, but the outlook is hopeful as efforts to stabilize and improve water supply conditions are firmly underway.
