The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is alerting customers in regions frequently affected by high turbidity at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant to prepare for possible disruptions in their water supply. The current heavy rainfall is expected to significantly impact the quality of water in source streams, posing challenges for water treatment and distribution.
As a result of these conditions, WAF anticipates a reduction in water production at the Tamavua facility, which may affect several areas. Locations likely to experience water supply interruptions include:
– Mika Drue Place and Pathik Crescent
– Mead Road, encompassing Volavola Road, Evetts Place, and Top Shop Road
– Elevated regions along Lakha Singh Road, including Sakoca Road
– Elevated areas along Tacirua Road, including Raibevu Road and Tacirua Heights
– MH Superfresh, Upper Mead Road, and Princes Road from Twomey Hospital to Loa Street Junction
– Princes Road from Joes Farm to Sawani Service Station
– Upper Delanivesi Areas, Upper Lami Village Road, Kalekana Settlement Road, and Muaivuso Village
The WAF teams are closely monitoring the evolving situation and are committed to working diligently around the clock to manage production levels and mitigate the impact on water supply for residents.
In light of these challenges, it is essential for residents to stay informed and prepare accordingly. The proactive measures taken by WAF demonstrate their dedication to maintaining water services despite adverse weather conditions. With community cooperation and awareness, these interruptions can be managed effectively, ensuring a reliable water supply when conditions improve.
