Fiji’s Wainiqolo Shatters Defenders Record in Epic Match

Fiji Water Flying Fijians winger Jiuta Wainiqolo achieved a remarkable feat by beating 19 defenders during his team’s 30-17 victory over Montpellier over the weekend, setting a new record for defenders beaten in a single match. This achievement is recognized across the major rugby competitions, including the Top 14, Super Rugby, URC, and Premiership, according to Opta and RugbyPass.

At 25 years old, Wainiqolo, who is also an Olympic 7s gold medallist, completed a total of 155 meters in the match, making 10 carries and two clean line breaks. He capped off the win with an impressive solo effort, picking up a loose ball from halfway and dodging several defenders to score during Round 7 of the French Top 14.

In other news, Olympic gold medalist Sireli Maqala also made headlines by scoring a try for his Bayonne team in their 32-15 victory against Josua Tuisova’s Racing 92.
