Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to promote his vision of the Blue Pacific as an “Ocean of Peace” during his attendance at the National Presidential Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. this week. This prestigious event will bring together members of the U.S. Congress, influential business leaders, and other international dignitaries, providing PM Rabuka with a platform to discuss his vision for peace and cooperation among Pacific nations.

Rabuka has been a regular attendee of the Prayer Breakfast since 1992, valuing the event for its focus on fellowship, good governance, and democratic values. This year, he plans to emphasize the importance of regional cooperation and peace, a central theme he first introduced during his address at the UN General Assembly in 2023.

The Prime Minister is hopeful that his “Ocean of Peace” concept will be formally adopted at the upcoming Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting scheduled for later this year in the Solomon Islands. He asserts that the Pacific nations share a responsibility to uphold peace across their diverse cultures and geographies, encapsulating the “Pacific Way,” which champions the right to peace and international collaboration.

During his visit, Rabuka anticipates discussions with prominent U.S. lawmakers, including Senators Ed Case, Mike Lee, and Kevin Kramer, on matters of mutual interest for Fiji and the greater Pacific region. This diplomatic effort underscores Fiji’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relationships and seeking collaborative pathways to tackle regional challenges.

The initiative is positioned as a beacon of hope, aiming to inspire positive relations and a unified approach to fostering a more peaceful and prosperous Pacific. By engaging in such productive dialogues, PM Rabuka is reinforcing the significance of collaborative international efforts in addressing current global issues, thereby laying groundwork for a bright future in the Pacific region.
