The inter-tertiary volleyball competition kicked off on Thursday at the National Netball Centre in Suva, organized by the Fiji University Sports Association as part of the larger annual inter-tertiary sports event. Universities from across Fiji are participating in the three-day competition, which features activities in netball, volleyball, and rugby.
Volleyball coordinator Emori Bakewa announced that this event coincides with World University Sports Day, observed each year on September 20. He emphasized that the broader sports competition aims to unite students from various institutions, fostering connections while commemorating this significant occasion.
Participants will compete in several categories, including men’s, women’s, mixed, and beach volleyball. Bakewa mentioned that this year’s tournament is particularly important as it will help identify a team to represent Fiji at the World University Games, following the completion of tournaments in other sports.
