The Fiji Sports Council (FSC) Under-20 team is gearing up for an exciting tour in New Zealand, scheduled for next month. Head coach Sireli Bobo emphasized the team’s objective, stating, “We aim to win.” The team will commence their training camp on January 3, leading up to their departure on January 29.

Bobo expressed gratitude for the FSC’s support in organizing the Under-20 sevens series, which included five competitive legs held across various locations, concluding at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium on November 30. He highlighted the impressive display of young talents throughout the series, with teams such as Village Boys, QVSOBs, Ca’au, and Dominion Brothers participating actively.

The primary goal of the tour is not only to secure victories but also to expose players to higher levels of competition. Bobo underscored the significance of a robust grassroots program for cultivating young talent, stating that many players will have their first experience flying on an airplane during this tour. He described the event as a special opportunity, noting that it serves as a platform for players to strive for a chance to represent Fiji on an international stage.

This initiative not only highlights the potential of upcoming athletes but also reinforces the commitment to developing the sport within the country, fostering a sense of hope and ambition among the youth. The FSC Under-20 team’s efforts in nurturing talent could signal a bright future for rugby in Fiji.

In summary, with a focus on preparation and development, the FSC Under-20 team stands ready to embrace the challenges ahead in New Zealand, aspiring not just for wins, but for growth and experience that could shape their futures.
