The SportWorld Fiji Under-20 rugby team is focusing on enhancing their performance in preparation for their upcoming match against Samoa on Saturday. Led by captain Moses Armstrong-Ravula, the team remains unbeaten in the Oceania Rugby U20 Challenge after a decisive victory over Canada, winning 56-24 at Nadi’s Prince Charles Park.

Fiji exhibited a dominating performance in the first half, establishing a formidable 42-7 lead. However, the second half saw them struggle to maintain that intensity, allowing Canada to score 17 points compared to Fiji’s 14. Ravula acknowledged this drop in performance and emphasized the need for the team to maintain their focus throughout the entire match, stating, “That’s going to be our main focus for the next game, that is finishing off the whole 80 minutes and not just the first 40.”

In the previous match, Fiji’s dynamic offense, spearheaded by players like Adam Khan and Bogidrau Kikau, showcased their skills with multiple tries, reflecting the team’s strength and depth. While captain Ravula expressed pride in the team’s initial performance, he also stressed the importance of maintaining that energy and focus in their upcoming challenge against Samoa, which they anticipate to be a more physically demanding match.

Looking back, Canada’s captain Daragh Doyle noted Fiji’s superior physicality and speed, acknowledging that while Canada improved in the second half, it was too little, too late against a team of Fiji’s caliber. Fiji’s next encounter with Junior Samoa is bound to be an exciting matchup as they aim to continue their winning streak.

This series of matches not only highlights Fiji’s promising rugby talent but also marks an encouraging trend within Pacific rugby, generating excitement among fans and supporters about the potential growth and success of the sport in the region.

As the tournament progresses, all eyes will be on Fiji to see how they adapt and overcome the challenges ahead, with hopes high for a successful conclusion to their campaign.
